∙ 13y agoThe first cell phone was made by Bell labs in 1947, but in 1973 Dr. Martin Cooper of Motorola made a cell phone like the ones we have today. From 1973-1984 they were only sold for government work, but in 1984 the first cell phones were sold to the public. They were large, heavy, and were carried in a zippered bag. They looked like a land line phone but were portable.
