When was the computer invented?

At 27 tons and the size of an entire room, the world's first computer was the ENIAC or Electronic Numerator Integrator Analyser and Computer. True to form, ENIAC also makes big noises, cracking and buzzing while performing an equation of 5,000 additions. Before the invention of ENIAC, it took a room full of people to calculate a similar equation. Basic answer 1945!

The computer was invented in 1945 by Charles Babbage. The real answer is that many inventors contributed to the history of computers and that a computer is a complex piece of machinery made up of many parts, each of which can be considered a separate invention.
