The United States has had a long history with the death penalty. In 1972 there was a moratorium put on the death penalty because it was found to be capricious, arbitrary, and biased. In 1976 after the states changed the way in which the death penalty was administered it was brought back.

∙ 14y agoThere are many country's that have reached a stage of development where the abhorrent practice of government initiated killing people for legal reasons have been abolished, However there are still many that have not jet reached that state of civilisation. Therefore we can only say that the death penalty has not yet been eradicated and confined to blot the pages of history.
