Betty Crocker, by the way, is a fictional woman whose name, Betty, was chosen because it was popular at the time, and Crocker, who was the director / secretary of one of the companies in the merger.

It wasn't until 1950 that General Mills published the first hardback copy of Betty Crocker's Picture Cookbook.
