The U.S. Navy SEALs were established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962 as a small, elite maritime military force to conduct Unconventional Warfare. They carry out the types of clandestine, small-unit, high-impact missions that large forces with high-profile platforms (such as ships, tanks, jets and submarines) cannot. SEALs also conduct essential on-the-ground Special Reconnaissance of critical targets for imminent strikes by larger conventional forces.

The Navy Seals cross train with the British S.A.S (Special Air Service).Navy seals are basically the same as the British S.A.S except the British S.A.S were around over 20yrs beforehand, so they train together and remain good allies.

On January 1, 1962 the Navy SEALs (Sea, Air, and Land) were created by President John F. Kennedy as a maritime special operations unit capable of a multitude of missions anywhere in the world. Yes, but also, the SEALs were formed from the UDTs(Underwater Demolition Teams), that began training in June 1943 at Fort Pierce, Florida in preparation for the D-Day invasion. In World War II, UDT's saw action at Normandy and at various locations in the South Pacific. The UDT's refined and developed their comando tactics during the Korean War, with their efforts initially focused on demolitions and mine disposal.

In the 1960's. They began for the Vietnam War because normal soldiers were not trained well for Geurilla Warfare. So they invented the most elite special forces group to be elite in any environment or area. The SEALs are also the most elite special forces group in the world. The name SEALs came from the words S: SEA A: Air L: Land. Which is why they are sometimes called Sea Air and Land Soldiers.
