I'm not quite sure if you mean when was the violin made or...um...when was the violin. But anyways, I'm going to answer when was the violin made.
It is probable that the violin (and its other cousins the viola and cello) were created during the mid-16th century in Northern Italy. Perhaps being the maker of the first true violins, Andrea Amati (ca. 1500-1577) was the patriarch of the Cremona school of violin making. Antonio Stradivari (1644-1737) and Bartolomeo Giuseppe Guarneri (1698-1744), brought the violin to its highest level both as a musical instrument and as a work of art.
The violin was not so much invented as developed: it started off very different from how it is today and changed, bit by bit, to evolve into the present instrument.
Some people believe the shape of the violin as we know it today was first invented in the early 16th century.
Another opinion
Although many people have contributed to the invention of the violin, Andrea Amati was known for making the first violin that resembles the modern violin (i.e. having four strings).
Bowed instruments were used in the Byzantine era of the 9th century. The first violin, viola and cello were known to be Italy from the 1530's. A clear description was written in 1536 by Philbert Jambe de Fer
The violin, while it has ancient origins, acquired most of its modern characteristics in 16th-century Italy, with some further modifications occurring in the 18th century.
Well, he did not.
(It is sort of touching to find how people believe Leonardo invented everythinng in this world).
it was invented in the 16th century

who perfected the violin? (major invented)
she was 35 year old when she made one that looks like the modern one we have today. "She" was a "he". There's no evidence he invented the violing and no one could possibly know his age when he first began making a violin!

Nobody really invented the violin. It originated from ancient Middle Eastern instruments that evolved as it traveled to Europe. The first person to create today's style of violin was Antonius Stradivarius.
