Apple will announce the iPad 2 on March 2, 2011, according to invitations (see link below) sent to major media outlets. They will be available for purchase at Apple Stores and Apple.com as early as the end of April. The iPad 2 will not be available for purchase at Authorized Retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, AT&T Stores, etc. until approximately September.
Apple does not announce products until they are ready. There are some rumors that an iPad 2 will be announced in January and shipped for sale in March. But there are other rumours that it will not go into production until February and appear in June. Feel free to make up your own rumours until it is announced.
