well, it depends on what kind of work you want to do. If you would like your own business... then you dont need any degree. but usually youll need to get a job in the field to learn the ropes, and there are many special skills and techniques youll have to learn too. my advice would be to get it as soon as possible. youll need an AA to go to any school. it in invaluable.
