When you have your wisdom teeth extracted should you keep your head up or lie down?

You're thinking of a nose bleed. If you are bleeding a bit the dentist should have given you gauze to put pressure on the gum to stop the bleeding. Leave your head up and if you have to lay down prop your head up with a couple of pillows so the blood doesn't run into your stomach. Also rinse your mouth with warm salt water 2 - 4 times a day.

No That's impossible youll just have missing teeth regaurdless But you don't need your wisdom teeth

You can pack the site with moist gauze, bite down and then inhale...this will keep the clot in the tooth. You must use moist gauze for each smoke for 3 days, or 8 days for a wisdom tooth. How do I know? I am a smoker and have had two teeth pulled this month alone on separate occasions. If you keep the hole covered with the moist gauze, your clot will stay where it needs to be :)

The wisdom teeth are your third set of molars, so they are located in the back of your mouth. You do not have to get them removed if they are alligned well and healthy. Most people do get them removed because they are usually alligned wrong and painful.

Why do people get their wisdom teeth removed?
Wisdom teeth get pulled out to prevent pain and discomfort. If the wisdom teeth don't have enough room in the back of your mouth and they grow in they will push your existing teeth out of the way and cause them to be mashed together. They can also grow in sideways, this is known as being 'impacted'. Sores can grow on your gums and become infected, leading to major problems down the road.
