Most DeWalt power tools are now assembled in Mexico, China, or Taiwan from components manufactured in Mexico, China, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Korea, Japan, Thailand, or the USA.

Before 1984, DeWalt power tools were manufactured in Canada, the USA, and the UK. In 1984, DeWalt's parent company acquired the woodworking and power tool assets of the German manufacturer ELU. After that acquisition, DeWalt routers and a few of their other power tools were manufactured at former ELU factories in Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

Starting in roughly 2000, DeWalt gradually moved most of their power tool assembly plants to Mexico, China, and Taiwan.

In April 2011, Stanley Black & Decker (DeWalt's current parent company) launched a line of hand tools under the DeWalt brand. Most of these hand tools are manufactured in China, Mexico, Taiwan or Thailand. A few hand tools (such as their retractable knife, tape measures and screwdrivers) are assembled in the USA from globally-sourced parts.

As of January 2013, a few DeWalt power tools are still manufactured in Europe. The DWS520 track saw and certain compact SDS rotary hammers (e.g., D25313) are manufactured in the Czech Republic. The 3 HP DW625 plunge router is still manufactured in Italy.

Before 1990, most DeWalt tools were manufactured in North America or Europe. Most DeWalt power tools are now assembled in Mexico, China, and Taiwan from parts manufactured in Mexico, China, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Korea, Japan, Italy, or Thailand.

In April 2011, Stanley Black & Decker launched a line of hand tools under the DeWalt brand. Although most of these hand tools are manufactured and assembled in China, Mexico, Taiwan or Thailand, some "legacy" hand tools (e.g., retractable knifes, tape measures and screwdrivers) are assembled at the Stanley Tools plant in New Britain, Connecticut from globally sourced parts. Stanley Black & Decker now employs roughly 900 people in the New Britain area.

In October 2013, DeWalt's parent company relocated the assembly of its more popular 18 and 20 volt cordless tools from Mexico to a former Black & Decker facility near Charlotte, North Carolina. Over four years, this relocation is expected to increase the number of employees at the plant from 270 to 520. The North Carolina plant will eventually assemble over 600 different cordless power tools, hand tools and accessories. Plastic cases and injection-molded housings are (or will be) supplied by a plant in nearby Marlboro County, South Carolina; other parts are globally sourced.

In November 2013, DeWalt announced that some of their 20 volt cordless tools will also be assembled at the Jackson, Tennessee plant. Stanley Black & Decker now employs over 500 in Jackson, Tennessee.

DeWalt used to make power tools in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy. In 1984, Dewalt's parent company acquired the woodworking and power tool assets of the German manufacturer ELU. After that acquisition, some of DeWalt's tools were manufactured at former ELU factories in Germany and Italy.

DeWalt's 3 HP router is still manufactured and assembled in Italy. The Italian plant also supplies parts for DeWalt's smaller routers. At least one of DeWalt's line of hammer drills is manufactured and assembled in the Czech Republic. Most of DeWalt's other power tools are manufactured or assembled in Mexico, China, or Taiwan.
