Depending on the size of the child, they can be placed same as an adult (upper right on chest & lower left on the rib cage) or if the child is smaller, you will need to place 1 pad on the chest and 1 on the back.
Well the pads would be placed in the same location as they would on an adult casualty, most AED units have pads designed just for children and come with complete quick reference placement instructions.
Keep in mind that the only differences are size and the state of charge for the size of the individual the AED is being used on. Trying to use adult pads on a child can be dangerous so be sure your unit has both sets of pads.
