Depending on how much breaking the bank is to some people great places to host a family reunion consist of, Casino's, YMCA's, or potentially cruise ships.
Although a good location depends greatly on where you live, public places are always good spots to hold events. You should check with the town, and see if you could use a local park or outdoor area for the reunion.

Walk in coolers are a great idea. For cost, not so much. If you're willing to pay then it's a great idea to hold drinks, food and other things such as that. Otherwise you'll have leaking and melting ice everywhere.
