where would the marks be located for the cams & the crank shafts on a 1999 Ford Contour
The timing marks on a 1994 Toyota Corolla are located on the crankshaft cover. The crankshaft cover is usually located at the very bottom of an engine.
2 cams are at 12 o clock, crankshaft at 12 o clock and second belt timing mark is 12 o clock. Aline cams with marks on head, you will have to take the harmonic balancer off and large washer off to see the crankshaft mark on engine block to line it up with gear. Same with the secondary belt.
no you need timing tools put a timing pin in the block to lock the crankshaft and use the timing tool to lock the cams
Ice cream trucks.
The timing marks show on the WDS screen. Unlike in the past where they were located in the Crankshaft damper.
it is auto timed thru the cam shaft and crankshaft sensors. You cannot change it. The timing belt has timing marks when you change the belt in which you line up the crank and cams.
Timing marks are located on the camshaft of a 1982 Toyota Tercel. The timing marks help correctly align the cams so the cars engine can run properly.
I think maybe the person might have been referring to setting the timing once the head or cams have been removed. That would not be controlled by a computer. You first have to set the crankshaft marks on TDC, which consists of a groove on the bottom pulley being aligned with the timing tab. Both of which are located on the passenger side of the car. Depending on which engine that you may have(there are 3 possibilites from what I have seen) you need to align the intake and exhaust cam marks with the crankshaft also. Being careful to tighten the caps on the intake and exhaust cams to the cylinder head. .
if you mean the ingintion timing marks, they are on the crankshaft pully. Use a rag and some cleaner to see them clearly.
The crankshaft itself has no marks, the crankshaft pulley has one, it's white color. The same is true for the camshaft, it has no marks. But the camshaft pulley has a hole in it. That hole must alighed with the mark behind the pulley and the crankshaft should alighed with its own mark and the camshaft in the same time.
iknow were the crank marks are but not the cams
align the cams to the E & I marks on cam. You will see notches right beside them. Align the crank with key way up.
