It's hard to determine if you have been bitten by a insect or a tick so look at pictures can really be helpful. I recommend Hardin MD, I have used it personally myself when my children went camping last summer. Web Md is a great site too for slideshows and pictures of various bites.
If looking for a picture of a tick, one can use an online database and then look for a "tick," under the images tab. The library also has an assortment of books that would include this species.
WebMD and Hardin MD have a great selection of Tick bites. They will look like a normal mesquito bite but smaller, about 1/4 the size of a mesquito bite. If your kids get a fever take them to the doctors ASAP.
While you should always consult your doctor in tick bite cases, you should also be able to find a plethora of images online. Many books on the subject may also be of help.
Webmd.com and Everydayhealth.com is a good place to find reliable pictures of insect and tick bites. These sites will have the most accurate information.
