An OBD II Code Reader, which reads vehicle engine codes, can be purchased in most larger automotive repair shops. Parts Source and Canadian Tire both carry them.
ob II code reader your local parts store should borrow one
A usb barcode reader can be purchased from the companies that make them such as Symbol. They can also be purchased from PCWorld who have a business department.
One that works with OBD II.
You have to hook up an OBD scanner to it. Most auto parts chains have one available, and can run a code diagnostic for free.
One could purchase an xD card reader online through Amazon's or Ebay's. One can choose from different types of varities, size, color and capacity of the said card reader.
this can be removed by going to advance auto parts and borrowing there obd 2 port universal code reader. you should be able to clear the code that way or if you own one you can use it to clear the code manually. this will only temporarily remove the light if the problem has not been repaired.
disconnecting the battery will not clear the code this car has an obd2 system in it so the only way to clear it is to use a code reader if you go to a auto zone they will read them for free and usally have one you can buy clear the code and return so that you dont need to buy it
there are 2 one under the hood next to batter and one under the dash next to obd reader
You can find a car code reader on various websites like FamilyHandyman and Amazon. Both websites offer a great variety of products, including a car code reader.
The engine power reduced light will turn on in Chevrolet HHR when a failure is detected in one of the sensors or engine components. An OBD II code reader can determine the cause and help with making repairs.
That's where an OBD II code reader plugs in to show what the trouble codes are if your check engine light is on for one thing ( I'm not a mechanic / technician , it is probably used for more things )
First, find an OBD II reader. Some auto supply stores will loan one to you or you can buy them fairly inexpensively (check e-Bay). The reader plugs into the OBD II port under the dashboard (to the right of the steering column) and will provide you with the error code that caused the light to go on in the first place. Error codes are posted online and generally look something like: "P0100 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Malfunction" With some code readers (the better ones) you don't have to look up the code, the reader will try to tell you what the problem is. Fix the problem then use the code reader to turn off the warning light. If you don't repair the problem the light is just going to come back on in a few miles anyway. Cheers
