There's certainly nothing wrong with forming mental pictures in you mind of the days of creation. The Bible account is very brief. But we can certainly use our imagination.

For example: You could imagine you are an angel, watching the creation happening on little earth. God announces he will create a new form-of-life on earth. So far, the only form-of-life is 'spirit life' (namely the angels). The angels are probably wondering how God will create 'physical' life; life made from the physical elements. "Impossible! Can't be done" they may have thought. But lo-&-behold, God created 'Plant' Life. This form-of-life was stationary. It could not move around as fast as angels. It could not move at all. Plant-life had 'no intelligence'; no 'free will'.

Unlike the angels, plant-life was not created to live forever. Now the angels would first learn about what 'death' is like. A pretty flower one day, the next day wilted and lay dead.

But unlike the angels, Plant-life could 'reproduce'. And thus the earth would in this way have a never ending supply of vegetation.

No doubt the angels wondered "what is the purpose of this form-of-life?" It cannot love God. It cannot communicate anything. But they would have to wait for the answer. Only when 'animal-life' and 'mankind-life' was created would the angels learn that 'the purpose of plant-life' is to provide oxygen for later forms of life; and also to provide 'sustenance / food' for later forms of life.

Isn't this a way to form a wonderful LIVING picture in your imagination about the days of creation?
