I think this may be the one you are looking for.

I Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Here are some other really good ones.

Isaiah 26:3

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Romans 8:35-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. I John 4:4

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Romans 8:31

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? The scripture previously mentioned at 1 Corinthians 10:13 highlights that God will not allow a Christian to be tempted beyond what he can bear, but it does not say that he is the source of the temptation or trial. James 1:13 says, "When under trial, let no one say: "I am being tried by God." For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone." So God does not bring problems on us. He is not the source of the trials we may face, but he does allow us to be tried, and as the scriptures cited above explain, he will help us, if we rely on him.
You are probably referring to 'trials or tests' we each go through in life:

1 Corinthians 10:13

New International Version (NIV)

13 No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Footnotes:
  1. 1 Corinthians 10:13The Greek for temptation and tempted can also mean testing and tested.
  2. 1 Corinthians 10:13The Greek for temptation and tempted can also mean testing and tested.
  3. 1 Corinthians 10:13The Greek for temptation and tempted can also mean testing and tested.

1Cor 10:13 say He will not let us be tempted beyond that which we can bear. This is what you are paraphrasing.

Another thought:

The difference between the paraphrase and the scripture is important. Here's the entire verse, from the New King James translation:

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Providing a way to escape temptation is different from "not put more on us than we can bear." Sometimes God allows things to pile up on believers enough to break the spirit; a reminder not to try to "do it all on our own," but to call on Him for help.

Hebrews 4:16 - Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace [pray], that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

(1 Corinthians 10:12-13 NASB) ". . .Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it."

This does not mean that terrible things will never happen to a faithful worshiper of God. What it DOES mean is that when we reach a point where we cannot 'bear it' on our own, God willstep in and give us the ability to endure whatever comes our way. That's why faith is so important in this world today. (1 John 5:19)(Matthew 24:13)

In addition to the previous answer. We must pay close attention to verse 12 in order not to stumble on verse 13 of 1st Corinthians 10. In verse 12 we find Paul through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit instructing us a warning. And if that warning isn't headed we will find ourselves humbled by our inadequacies. Therefore in verse 13 we find a deliverer of those inadequacies who is our LORD and Christ Jesus. He will not allow us to stumble or fall beyond that which is unbearable. And His chastening (instruction) will come as He gives us that escape.

John 15: 4, Ephesians 4:2-4, and Galatians 6:3.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (this is out of the King James Version Bible) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

God Bless!!!

One thought:

1 Corinthian 10:13 says: "...God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."(NIV)

This indicates that God will not allow more pressure than we can handle WITH HIS HELP. It may very well be more than we ALONE can deal with, but with GOD'S help, a way will be provided for us to be able to endure it, and keep our integrity to God.

1Cor:10:13: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Actually the above scripture is commonly quoted from the pulpit and by Christians who, well-meaning, are offering encouragement. But this is simply NOT what the verse says! It says that you will not be *tempted* beyond what are you able to bear (as God says He will also provide a way to escape). But, yes, frequently God does put more on us than we are able to bear. Why? Because He wants us to come to Him with our burdens. WE can't bear much, but we don't have to bear ANY of it all!!

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you;

he will never let the righteous be shaken. (Psalm 55:22)

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (I Peter 5:7)

The scriptures do NOT say that God will not give us more than we can bear - that's why you can't find a scripture reference. The best Christians can find is a scripture reference that says you will not be TEMPTED beyond what you are able to bear and He will always provide an escape for you. God wants us crushed under the weight of more than we can bear because sometimes it's the only way to get through our thick heads to let go and give it all over to God and let Him handle it!!

This is probably what you mean:
