Pokemon was invented in Japan, at first there were the red and green games, these games did not exist in the US and Europe, eventualy they made Blue and Red in the US and Europe, then Yellow, Gold, Silver and Crystal, Sapphire and Ruby, Colloseum , Fire Red and Leaf Green, Emerald, Pokemon XD, then Diamond and Pearl, some other smaller games such as Pinball came along too, but those are not as important.
If you mean in real life they came from Japan. If you mean from the show, they could have came from another planet or just been on Earth all along.

∙ 14y agoPokemon came from the drawings and imagination of Satoshi Tajiri when he was a young boy. In Pokemon R/B/Y, the Pokemon were based on his drawings. The Anime changed them in the later games.
