They came from the mating of a Labrador Retreiver and a ChowChow.
A Pug, Dane, Chow and Lab come to mind
Yes.
Unfortunately, lab and chow are both breed designations. There is no distinction between their scientific names because they are the same species, Canis familiaris.

chow chow
Well actually by having Chow mixed in it could go either way... A Chow Chow is an independent breed which may or may not be protective of it's family as it is for its territory alone. Chow mixes and Pedigree Chows actually do not get on the best with children and other animals and are better suited for couples.
There is no correct answer for this one. You could say somewhere between the lab and chow, but I've seen many mixes that looked like pure bread animals. Sometimes only an experienced person can really tell, and to be honest, a mixed breed can (sometimes) make a better pet (The breeders will hate me for that one). 30+ years with chow chows has taught me that Chows can be very hard headed and mean (protective) animals. Mixing with a lab can produce many good qualities. You can train a chow to fetch your neighbors dog a lot quicker than a ball.
Im guessing it was probably a hound x lab. There might have been a bit of chow-chow..
This isn't a question of breeds getting along. Any dog will get along with any other dog provided it's properly socialized. Unless properly socialized, the Chow Chow often will not get along well with other dogs.
