She didnt attemp college , allegedly the day after her high school prom she packed her backs and moved to the big city (nyc) was a backup singer for BRENDA K. STARR then at a business party she met some music business mans gave one her famous demo tape Tommy mottola literally took the demo tape from the hand of one man, listen to it while drivig home after the party and inmediately drive back in order to find mariah, he didnt find her there anymore, days later he made contact and as they say the rest is history
