Where did sushi come from? |
[Edit] |
Sushi
Sushi is a Japanese form of serving rice. The rice is mixed with a touch of vinegar and sugar and is then combined with vegetables, fish (cooked and raw) and other foods to make a combination that is both tasty and visually appealing.
Legend has it that an old woman hid her cooked rice in a bird nest to keep it away from pillaging soldiers. When she retrieved it, the bird had left a fish in it. Upon eating the rice, she realized how tasty it was.
It is also beleived that sailors would wrap rice in alguae in order to preserve it longer. Later they would have added the internal ingredients in order to avoid the excessive use of salt.
