Paul met John at a church social where John was playing a gig; John asked him to join shortly afterwards. George met Paul on the bus, going to the same school, and he joined the band in 1958. He lived in the same neighborhood as John and Paul, and Paul and him had similar interests in Skiffle, American rock, as well as going to Liverpool institute together. Ringo belonged to a local band called Rory and the Hurricanes, and joined when The Beatles were looking for a new drummer.

Paul was invited to join John's band, The Quarry Men after auditioning (sort of) a show in Liverpool. George was a friend of Paul's who John rejected at first because he was so young. After George played, he was accepted. The band went through several drummers, most prominently Pete Best, before inviting Ringo (who they met when he played the same bill in another band) to join them.

The Beatles met at different times. Paul met John in 1957 at a garden fete where John took him on and Paul knew George from the bus to school and he knew he played guitar so he was backup until he became in the band for good. When the Beatles visited Hamburg, they met Ringo who was playing with Rory Storm. Ringo occasionally played with the band in Hamburg. In 1962 they decided to replace Pete Best with Ringo.

The Beatles originally met Ringo Starr in Germany when he was the drummer for Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. He sat in with them a few times, when their drummer Pete Best wasn't available.

When the Beatles auditioned for George Martin, he wasn't satisfied with Best's drumming, and wanted to replace him on their records. The band saw fit to let Best go completely, and Starr took his place.

George Harrison met Paul McCartney on the bus to school (both attended Liverpool Institute), and got acquainted over their first guitars. McCartney introduced Harrison to John Lennon, who thought of Harrison as "just a kid", especially when he made deliveries to Lennon's Aunt Mimi's house, from the local butcher. (Harrison took the job to pay his mother back, for helping him get a better guitar.)

Harrison, McCartney and Lennon met Ringo Starr in Hamburg, when he played with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.

They, obviously, met lots of people. They met Cassius Clay (as he then was), Elvis Presley, Queen Elizabeth and the then Prime Minister (although they may not have realized who it was).

Lennon recalled a meeting with Fats Domino which he found rather embarrassing, Domino was treating Lennon as a rock legend - whereas Domino was one of Lennon's all time heroes and felt that Domino was the one who should get the attention.

John Lennon (aged 16) in 1957 formed a skiffle group with a few of his friends from school. They were originally called 'The Black Jacks' but one of their fellow friends had another band with the same name, so John named themselves after his school 'The Quarrymen.

On July 6th 1957, The Quarrymen performed at the woolton village fete (It was a church near where john lived). When John and his band were peforming on stage, Paul Mccartney was watching in the crowd. After the Peformance they all gathered in the church hall for a little practice where Paul peformed 20 flight Rock by Eddie Cochoran. John was impressed not because he could play better, but because he knew all the words. After a week in Butlins, Paul joined the band 2 days after his holiday.

John and Paul could play a bit of guitar but thay weren't that good. So paul told John about a 14 year old George Harrison. He was a local guitarist but 2 years younger than john and Paul. He could play a song called Raunchy. It was one of John's favorites but he couldnt play it. So, The Quarrymen had just done a peformance at Paul's Church hall where after it they ended up on a top deck of adouble decker bus with George. John gave his guitar to George to play the song on. John was so impressed he was told to join on the spot.

2 years later when The Quarrymen had formed into The Silver Beetles and they had scraped the acoustic Guitars and Bought Expensive Electrics they were missing one thing....A DRUMMER. They asked Pete Best to join. His mother, Mona asked The Quarrymen to peform at her club (The Casbah) on numerous Occasions.

Another year had past and They had formed into quite simply The Beatles. But all was not well. They had went to Hamburg Germany on numerous Occasions for long periods of time to peform their music. But The Beatles Were getting fed up with Pete Best's drumming, So The Beatles Manager (Brian Epstein) asked him to leave and that the 'boys' want Ringo Starr in.

So there was John, Paul, George and Ringo. They got a record contract and the rest you could say is History!!!

Was John Lennon a kleptomaniac?

He MAY (hard to prove) have stolen some instruments in the early Beatles days. A cheap guitar from the era was found stashed in the attic of his Aunt Mimi's home recently. There is also the legend of the Beatles playing a "battle of the bands" and he stole another band's acoustic guitar. But back in the early, struggling days of the group, all of them were known to be somewhat light-fingered from time to time - and they were probably no different from other groups in the same boat. George Harrison once bought an amplifier, and when asked what it cost him, replied "A pound down, and the rest when they catch me".

How did John Lennon get a band?

In 1956 he started the Blackjacks (soon to be the Quarrymen). In 1957 he met Paul after a mutual friend (Ivan Vaughan) introduced them. Paul introduced George Harrison in 1958. By 1959 early members of the Quarrymen left the group and they were calling themselves Johnny & the Moondogs. By 1960 they flip-flopped between the names the Beatles, the Silver Beatles and back again. In August of 1962 they recruited Ringo Starr (formally a member of Rory Storm & the Hurricanes) as drummer. Soon after they were considered the top band in Liverpool and the rest is history.
