[Edit] |
Answer
According the classical Greek mythology, Hermes was born to Maia on Mt. Cyllene in Arcadia as the son of Zeus, though his worship predates the arrival of Zeus in Greece. His name means "a pile of stones" which were used to demarcate land. This gives us a hint to his origin.
