D. B. Cooper (boarded the plane as Dan Cooper, but a media misconception labeled him as "D.B. Cooper, which stuck) was a man who hijacked a Boeing 727 aircraft in the United States on November 24, 1971 claiming to have a bomb on board. After receiving USD$200,000 in ransom he jumped out somewhere over the Cascade mountains in Washington. It is believed he did not survive the jump, but his whereabouts have never been proven. The hijacking remains as the only unsolved United States airline hijacking in history.
