Where did the original settlers in Mexico come from?

The original people living in what we know as Mexico are considered "native", and they migrated from the Eastern Asia area across land, and also from islands in the Pacific Ocean. Anthropologists are still theorizing, and discovering, more evidence on the many people who visited and lived in Mexico before the Spanish came to conquer.

If you're asking about the Spanish conquests of the above natives in the late 1400s and early 1500s, most of these people were born in Spain, some in Portugal, and others from Islands and other countries that Spain had recently conquered.

The Italian, Christopher Columbus had sought money and ships from the Queen of Spain to voyage to the East and find an ocean route to the West Indies. His own government in Italy was not interested in his idea. So Spain provided Columbus with everything he needed to take a 2 month journey across the ocean, and the sailors and soldiers were Spanish for the most part.

Columbus didn't really know what he was going to find because no one from Europe had sailed in this direction before. Columbus found land in the Gulf of Mexico, on one of the Caribbean Islands and from there, eventually after more trips, made his way to Mexico. Because Spain had financed his voyages, the land was "claimed" by Spain.

Understand please, that by the late 1700s, many folks from other European countries, like France & Germany, also came to settle there. And once Mexico won independence from Spain in the 1820s, many more people from other than Spain were welcomed and lived there.
