In Photography (old silver and light development) when developing an exposure, the last thing you do is rinse, or wash the the paper to get the final exposure. So what wasn't on the paper before the rinse, or wash suddenly appeared. Thus the phase, "everything will come out in the rinse/wash"
it means that everything will be forgotten or forgiven eventually
It means that the truth will eventually come out. You don't have to try to force the issue trying to find the truth. It always prevails.

It is not a nautical term. It is a hand plunger to wash clothes by hand and is the brand name. It also has a picture of an imaginary CWS Invincible ship embossed on the side.
Where does the term "new digs" come fron?
The term "dress to the nines" comes from England when sailing ships were used. As the ship would come into the harbor all sails would be flying, all nine of them. And all the sailors would be dressed in dress uniforms lined up on either side of the ship. The modern connotation is to have put on your finest clothing and jewelry, almost as if you were being visited by royalty. See also 'putting on the dog.'
