A slug isn't a weight, it's a mass like a gram. But a gram is metric while slugs are English units. If Force = mass x acceleration, or lbs. = slugs x gravity. Then lbs./gravity =slugs. using gravity as 32.2 ft/s^2, and lbs as 8.33 lbs per gal of water. we divide 8.33 by 32.2 getting .2587 slugs per gallon of water.

Platypuses eat small water animals such as aquatic insect larvae of caddisflies, mayflies and two-winged flies, fresh water shrimp, annelid worms, yabbies and crayfish. Insect larvae and worms might be considered by some to be "slugs" but they are not true slugs, and are not eaten by platypuses.
