Ecclesiastes 9:11 - I returned and saw under the sun that - The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.
"...The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all." (NIV)
The verse is actually in the Old Testament, though a few New Testament verses refer to it (2 Timothy 4:7,8; Hebrews 12:1-3).
In order to address the last part of your question, combine Ecclesiastes with Matthew 10:22 in the 'New Testament" which says: "...he that endureth to the end shall be saved"(KJV)
Nowhere. It's a combination of two different scriptures, combined to give clearer meaning. Ecclesiastes 9:11 for the first part; many others for the last half about enduring til the end- most notably Acts 20:24 and 2 Timothy 4:7 which talk about running your race to the end and finishing the race.
Additional Comment:
The Apostle Paul, creating a picture of his mission as a 'race' uses the term for himself in 2 Timothy 4:7 and for us in Hebrews 12:1 as noted above. Your reference to 'not given to the swift' is part of Ecclesiastes 9:11. The 5 assets mentioned here referred to individuals who enjoyed each of these and planned and counted upon them in their lives. Swiftness is to Asahel in 2 Samuel 2:18 who had speed like a gazelle. Yet it didn't save his life. The message here is that God in the end, He determines our lot. Consider the 'strong' and there were none stronger than Samson yet his end was for God to determine.
The very end of the verse says, 'But time and chance happen to them all' which is a way of saying we each live in a world of probabilities. Leaving a place a moment earlier or later can cause us life of death.
Eccl:9:11: I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
Nowhere as you have combined a couple of Scriptures in your question. See below:
Ecclesiastes 9:11New King James Version (NKJV)11 I returned and saw under the sun that-
The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favor to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.
And the New Testament for the latter part in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark:
Mark 13:13New King James Version (NKJV)13 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.
Ecclesiastes 9:11New King James Version (NKJV)
11 I returned and saw under the sun that-
The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favor to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.
The question as put is not totally biblical but a composite. Part is from Ecclesiastes 9:11 but see link below for more detailed answer:
Ecclesial 9:11
This statement was given to show that God does not favor those who look or seem physically fit. Instead, He favors those who have faith in Him.
That is a saying, not a Bible quote.
The word "saved" is in the King James Version of the Bible 104 times. It is in 104 verses.
by God
Philippians 2 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. Following the present "Age of Grace," will be "The Day of Christ," commonly called the Second Coming. Jesus Christ has delivered the believers of our day from the events prophesied in Matthew 24 and Mark 13. Matthew 24:13 "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." Mark 13:13 "And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."
no where because the bible is fiction
The Bible does not say this. God is never done with us. The Bible says you are saved when you confess with mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV) Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
137 i think.
In the Bible a person who is saved doesn't have to face the coming judgment on sin. Throughout history God has judged the sin of mankind e.g The world was judged by the flood, Noah and his family were saved in the ark. The nation of Egypt was judged, but the Israelites were saved.
how to get saved, acts 1-4. how to stay saved, the rest of the new testament. my fave is acts 2:38
In Acts 26 Paul shares his testimony with King Agrippa.Paul talks about before he was saved, when he was saved and after he was saved.
