there is 2 bolts 1 in the center that's your drain plug. and the other on the rear left or right corner that's the "overflow" plug that's where you put it in you just kind of do it until it starts to come back out, the dealer says to use a "temp guage" but blah its not a fun job either way i ruined mine by over filling it and clew a piston retainer seal which was warranteed luckily under the power train warrantee
AnswerThere are 2 plugs (same size), one is Oil Drain Plug and the other one is Oil Filler Plug(about 2 inches higher and 10 inches away from the Oil Drain Plug). With the Oil Drain Plug closed, engine off, use an Oil Pump (cost about $12) to pump transmission oil through the Oil Filler Plug (about 2.5 quarts) until oil comes out of the Filler Plug.
Turn engine on (wait for few seconds to have the engine suck the oil up), and pump the transmission oil again (this also takes about 2.5 quarts) until it comes out of the Filler Plug.
Tight the Oil Filler Plug (with the engine on). You are done.Total transmission oil needed will be about 5 quarts. Before you start, you should buy an Oil Pump first.
On the 2002 Rodeo the transmission is sealed and is non servicable by the owner. You cannot even check the fluid level so I advise taking it to an Isuzu repair shop.
will a 3.2L 2000 Isuzu Trooper engine fit a 3.2L Isuzu rodeo transmission
It may be possible to drive, but low fluid can be very damaging.
The way to check the transmission fluid level is you run the vehicle in park until operating temp. When operating temperature is reached then there is a plug in the transmission pan pull out just the middle of it to check fluid.
When changing the filter and fluids of a car, it is important to know the fluid capacity. A 2000 Isuzu Trooper uses 9.1 quarts of transmission fluid.
I have a 1994 Isuzu Trooper and it has issues upshifting at lower speeds. How do I check the fluid level in the transmission when there is no dipstick?
