There are a variety of trees known as junipers. The most common variety in Northern Nevada is also known as mountain mahogany, because the wood is fairly hard and gnarled. These are scrubby evergreen trees that reach a maximum height between 20 and 30 feet (6 to 9 meters).
Some varieties of juniper may reach as high as 130 feet (about 40 meters).
Juniper trees grow from the Arctic, south through the western United States, to the tropical parts of Africa and the mountainous regions of Central America. There are between 50 and 67 different species of Juniper.
A person could buy a Juniper tree in a few different places. Local tree nurseries or plant greenhouses would most definitely have Juniper trees for sale. They can also be purchased online, however, the shipping fees would likely be very expensive.
Juniper is a low growing evergreen shrub common to the northern half of the North American continent, both east and west.
The Juniper bushes were planted in 1997. Before the Juniper bushes it was just a green tarp cover. In the 1970's it was Astroturf. There have also been rumors that groundskeepers at Wrigley have had to kill Marijuna plants in the Juniper.
It probably means that there are borers present in the shrub or tree.

ON BUSHES! haven't you heard of blueberry bushes?!?!
No, they grow on bushes.
Best to prune outdoor juniper bushes in early spring(March or April in the northeast US) to allow ample time for regrowth before winter sets in. If you prune too close to winter, there's not enough time for the regrowth to occur and the bush could be damaged.
