Chemistry developed from the observation of natural processes that occurred when various substances were mixed, dissolved, or heated. The pseudoscience of alchemy was one that used various techniques found in modern chemistry. (One aim of alchemy was to transmute an element into another element, notably lead into gold.) Later chemists became interested in how to isolate particular elements from a compound, and many of the known elements were discovered (along with their chemical properties).

Chemical properties come from the valence shell electron configuration of atoms. In compounds, chemical properties can also come from specific arrangements of atoms called functional groups.

Why does your sun have 2 percent heavier elements and from where do they come?

I think it's our Sun which gets heavier elements from fusion of hydrogen and other light elements.Edit: Our Sun does create helium from hydrogen by fusion, but that's all. The reason it has heavier elements is that these come from the nebula that formed the Sun. The heavier elements are thought to have come from stars that exploded as "supernovas", a long time ago.
