Where does the Bible list the direct descendants of Adam?

Luke 3:23-38, when tracing the human line of descent of Jesus Christ back to the first man on earth, ends up by saying "the son of Adam, the son of God." However, we are all the descendants of Adam after he had sinned against his Creator and had lost his human perfection.

The Book of Genesis and the Gospel of Luke provide the best known biblical lists ofthe descendants of Adam. Genesis 4:1-2 tell us that Cain was Adam's first son and that Abel was his second. Genesis 5:3 says that Seth was the next son, after which several eponymous descendants are listed. Further descendants are found in various passages throughout Genesis.

Luke follows Genesis fairly closely, but inserts an additional descendant for theological reasons. The two genealogies follow, beginning with Abraham and going back to Adam:
