The word oxbow comes from a man who settled in North America and found an ox and a bow together.
Or, an Oxbow is a portion of the harness rigging built by slowly bending a length of green wood using heat and moisture to create a uniform "U" shaped stock that fits through holes cut into the yoke. This devise has early European origins and has been in use for at least 700 years to team up oxen for teamed pulling of carts and agricultural implements.
