If it is actually a pin and not a badge, it is usually pinned on the right breast pocket of the formal uniform, but if it is a badge or crest, it goes on a badge blanket, and not on the uniform.
The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace pin can only be purchased by someone who has attended a class or a tour at the Birthplace. According to the paper they give you with the pin at the museum, the pin is to be placed on the FRONT of the uniform (below the membership stars) and may be worn forever. If membership stars are not being worn, place the pin across from the Girl Scout Pin.
Girl Scouts are not required to wear a uniform unless they are representing the organization in an official capacity, such as part of a Color Guard for a flag ceremony. To show membership in the organization, girls may wear a uniform or they may choose to wear their GSUSA membership pin and the WAGGGS pin on clothing on the left side - "over the heart".

The value of a Girl Scout pin from 1962 depends on various factors. First of all, if someone actually wants to buy the pin and how much they would be willing to pay for the pin. The condition the pin is in would be another factor. A pin in excellent condition would be worth more than a damaged pin. Also, the price you can get for a pin is always changing. The best you can probably hope to get for a 1962 Girl Scout pin is from $5 to $10.

In the Boy Scouts of America, Boy Scouting used to have Skill Awards, which were recognized by belt loops, but this was discontinued in the 1980s. The Cub Scout Academics and Sports Program uses belt loops for recognition. Further work in an area is recognized by a pin worn on the Academics and Sports Letter.[see link]
The Girl Scout Slogan is "Do a Good Turn Daily." For GSUSA, it is a tradition that whenever a Girl Scout receives a membership pin, the pin is placed upside down until the Girl Scout does a "good deed" or "good turn". Sometimes the Girl Scout is asked to do three good deeds, one for each part of the Girl Scout Promise. Sometimes she is asked to do a good deed each day until the next meeting. Once the Girl Scout has done her "good deed" or "good turn", she may turn the Girl Scout Membership Pin right side up.

The Girl Scout sash is designed to lay on the right shoulder, go around the body, with the bottom of the sash on the left side of the body. The Girl Scout vest is designed so that it is worn by inserting both arms with an opening on the front. Placement of the insignia and awards is different on each. When wearing the Girl Scout sash, the pin tab with the membership pin and the WAGGGS pin is worn on the left side of the shirt rather than being on the sash. See related links for illustrations of both the Girl Scout sash and the Girl Scout vest.
For GSUSA, the five year Membership Numeral Guard is attached to the Membership Pin and then pinned to the right of the pin on the insignia tab or clothing.
