most of the waste excreted by the fetus exits viathe umbilical cord . hat is attached via to the navel is responsible for transferring the needed nutrients and vital supplies to the baby. Like most people, if you don't eat - you don't "poop"! The baby survives by absorbing through the blood barrier the mothers digested, and absorbed nutrients, minerals and water. the digestive tract does start working in utero and some waste (dead cells) build up in the baby's tract as "meconium" which will be baby's first "poop" for the first few days until he/she starts drinking breast milk, which creates the actual first poop.

When you go "poop" in a toilet and flush, the feces either goes into a septic tank under the ground outside of your house or into large pipes that take it to a large facility called a sewage settling and filtering station. In the city, toilets are all connected to small pipes that lead to bigger pipes (sewers) under the street, These big pipes all are connected to the sewage system and takes the flushed water to big holding tanks that allow the heavy particles to sink to the bottom and the water to flow away into evaporator yards.

A septic tank is a smaller tank that does about the same thing. Heavy stuff sinks to the bottom and is "eaten" by microbes and the water is drained off and flows under your yard evaporating into the air and used by the plants.

At 38 weeks most of the downy coat of lanugo that covered your baby for weeks has disappeared, but you may see some on the upper back and shoulders when he or she arrives. Almost gone has most of the vernix caseosa, the whitish substance that also covered baby.

Your baby will swallow the lanugo and exterior coating, along with other secretions, and store them in their bowels. These will become your infant's first bowel movement, a blackish waste called meconium. Your child's intestines are accumulating lots of meconium.

About 30% of babies move their bowels before birth. Usually this is a sign that the baby is under some stress and can cause pneumonia if the baby inhales any amniotic fluid with meconium in it. If there are signs of meconium in the amniotic fluid at birth your care provider will make sure that the baby's throat and lungs are suctioned thoroughly.
