Sublingual tonsils are the second pair of tonsils that extend inferiorly from the base of tongue as opposed to the pair of palatine tonsils that are seen easily in the back of the oral cavity.

· Adenoids = aka Pharyngeal tonsils or Luschka located at the nose.

· Tonsils = aka Palatine located at the oropharynx (back of the mouth).

· Tubal = located at the opening of the auditory tubes.

· Lingual = located at the tongue "root".

· Cerebral = located above the nasal openings.

· Nasal = located within the nasal cavity

The tonsils are located in the tonsillar fossae in the back of the mouth. There is also tonsillar tissue in the posterior nasopharynx. This tissue is called adenoids.
