There certainly is. In South Woodford two weeks ago it was impossible to get frozen broad beans at either Waitrose, Sainsbury's or M&S (though the last had some lovely fresh ones). Last week I tried Tesco in Blairgowrie, Perthshire - same problem. Today I tried Waitrose and Tesco in Hexham and the frozen broad bean famine continues. Last summer's crop was almost destroyed by a combination of African beetle and floods, apparently. A Telegraph article recently reported that Waitrose expect supplies to resume within the next few weeks. Oh Joy!
The Fairey Swordfish was used initially as a torpedo bomber and was successful against moderate opposition, then in 1942 they met the German battleships/cruisers who had co-ordinated sea and air cover thus resulting in the loss of all the attacking aircraft, this subsequentially changed the operational reference for this aircraft. The Channel Dash or operation Cerberus as the official name for this operation was known can be obtained on the web and this gives a reasonable view on what the Fairey Swordfish was about. Later in WW2 the Swordfish was used as an anti-submarine aircraft and spotter plane, and was retired from service in 1946. There are five known aircraft today, with two still flying during 2007 in Canada, which is where I reside. I am led to believe that my mothers brother who was an airgunner was part of one of these crews that attacked the battle cruisers, he was only just 21, married 3 weeks, his name is on the War memorial in Blairgowrie, Scotland. I hope this gives you enough info'
