Where is Holy Shrine of Imam Ali in Najaf located?

تاريخ المدينة
النجف في اللغة : مكان مستطيل منقاد ولا يعلوه الماء بدأت النجف كمنتجع ثم مدينه للمناذرة في القرن الرابع الميلادي وبعد الإسلام اكتسبت أهمية وقدسية حيث يقع فيها ضريح الإمام علي بن أبي طالب (ع) عندما حضر العالم الكبير الشيخ نصير الدين الطوسي قبل اكثر من الف سنة الى النجف اسس فيها حوزة علمية (اي جامعة اسلامية حسب المذهب الشيعي) يدرس فيها مختلف العلوم الدينية واللغوية فأقبل عليها الطلاب من جميع انحاء العالم فازدهرت وكثرت مكتباتها وشيدت فيها مدارس واصبحت من اهم المدن من الناحية العلمية للشيعة وفيما ذكر المؤرخون حول نشأت النجف الأشرف وبداية تاريخ تمصيرها : انها تتردد بين سنة (155هـ) وسنة (170هـ)وذلك حينما شيدت أول عمارة على قبر الأمام أمير المؤمنين (ع) التي كانت العامل الوحيد في نشأت المدينة وفي توسعها وتطورها.
يقول الشيخ آل محبوبة : (( فنشأت العمارة حول المرقد المقدس سنة 170 وقطن النجف بعض العلويين والخاصة من الشيعة , ثم توسعت البلدة وتلاحقة العمارة بتوالي الاعوام وأخذت بمصير وافر من العمران حتى لم ينقض القرن الرابع الهجري الا وفي النجف من السادة العلوية ألف وتسعمائة عدا غيرهم من الشيعة.
وتقدمت النجف تقدما باهرا من حيث العمران والعلم وأزدحام السكان في القرن السابع والثامن في عصر السلطة الشيعية الجلائرية والايلخانية في العراق , فأنهم بذلوا جهودهم ونقدوا أموالا طائلة من خزائنهم , فعمروا فيها المدارس والمساجد الحانقاهات (التكايا) وأجروا أليها الانهار وأدروا الارزاق والأعاشة على من حل بها كما فعل قبلهم البويهيون فأنهم هم اللذين أسسوا قواعد المرقد المعظم وشيدوا بازائه المساجد والدور لمن جاور بالنجف ووصولهم بالأموال الكثيرة والصلات الثمينة , واحاطوها بالامن ونظروا أهلها بين التبجيل والأحترام)) .

ضريح الإمام علي عليه السلام



موقعه:
يقع مرقد الامام أمير المؤمنين علي (ع) في وسط المدينة القديمة ... وهو أبرز معلمة كبرى من معالمها الخالدة .
تاريخه :
ان أختيار هذا الموضع المعروف قبرا للأمام أمير المؤمنين (ع) كان بوصية منه . ففي المروي عن مولى لأمير المؤمنين (ع) (( لما حضرت أمير المؤمنين - عليه السلام- الوفاة , قال للحسن والحسين : أذا أنا مت , فاحملاني على السرير - الى أن قال : ثم أتيا بي الغريين , فأنكما ستريان صخرة بيضاء , فأحتفروا فيها فأنكما ستجدان فيها ساحة , فأدفناني فيها )).
وكانت وفاة الامام أمير المؤمنين (ع) في شهر رمضان من سنة (40هـ).

تقع المدينة على حافة الهضبة الغربية من العراق ، جنوب غرب العاصمة بغداد وعلى بعد 160 كم عنها. و ترتفع المدينة 70م فوق مستوى سطح البحر ، وتقع على خط طول 44 درجة و19 دقيقة ، وعلى خط عرض 31 درجة و59 دقيقة. يحدها من الشمال والشمال الشرقي مدينة كربلاء ( التي تبعد عنها نحو 80 كم ) ، ومن الجنوب والغرب منخفض بحر النجف ، وابي صخير ( الذي تبعد عنه نحو 18 كم ) ، ومن الشرق مدينة الكوفة ( التي تبعد عنها نحو 10 كم
