Sherman - anti trust act
In July 1861, Sherman commanded a brigade at the First Battle of Bull Run (First Manassas). In April 1862, Sherman commanded a division which played a valiant and crucial role in the Battle of Shiloh. In Grant's Army of the Tennessee in 1862-63, Sherman also commanded forces in most of Grant's engagements including the Vicksburg campaign and the two captures of Jackson. General Grant recommended Sherman for promotion to brigadier-general of the regular army out of respect for his consistently faithful performance. Sherman replaced Grant in the taking of Chattanooga and Knoxville, the Meridian campaign, the Atlanta campaign, the famous "March to the Sea" (Savannah campaign), and the Carolinas campaign.
General Sherman applied the scorched earth method of combating the Confederacy. This tactic was used in his infamous March to the Sea.
The Sherman Anti-Trust Act of 1890 was the first measure passed by the U.S. Congress to prohibit trusts or business activities that federal government regulators deem to be anticompetitive. It also requires the federal government to investigate and pursue trusts (monopolies).
Sherman (Union) expected a battle in Savannah with the small Confederate army under Hardee. But that army escaped across the river into South Carolina, where Sherman would soon pursue it. Having occupied Savannah, Sherman sent Lincoln a joke-telegram offering him the city as a Christmas present. It was the first time he''d been able to communicate with the Government for five weeks, as all the overland wires had been cut.
The first M-4 Shermans were built in 1941, and first went into combat in 1942.
He never had the authority to do it in the first place. Sherman was simply trying to get the slaves to stop following his army, so he made the '40 acres and a mule' promise - although he never had the authority to make such a promise or enforce it.

The M4 Sherman tank first saw action in the Second Battle of El Alamein.
Very little. The sherman would never get within 2000+ yards to a Tiger in open terrain and the shermans rounds just bounced off of the tiger/panther... even the 76.2mm sherman stood no chance. The Sherman was designed too early in the war to be influenced by German or Soviet technology. The 1st Armored Division deployed to UK early in 1942 without the Sherman but they were soon equipped with them. I believe that during the campaign in North Africa in late 1942 and first half of 1943, the Sherman was available to both the British 8th Army and the US 1st Armored Division---very early in the war. The Sherman tank was powered by a light aircraft engine that ran on gasoline, which made it very flammable. Most German tanks ran on diesel.
We have Natasha Bedingfield, Wagner, and Richardson. these 3 ladies were all in famous movies.
Right across Georgia, from Atlanta to Savannah. Although it was a triumphant success, shortening the war by months at almost nil casualties, Sherman was privately nervous at the start, and spent much effort in deception tactics to conceal his route from the few Confederates in his path. It was also worrying for Lincoln, as the telegraph wires had been cut, and Sherman was incommunicado for five weeks. At Savannah, Sherman was able to establish contact with the US Navy and send signals to Lincoln. As it was December, one of the first ones jokingly offered him the city of Savannah as a Christmas present.
