The traditional story is that Paul was interred with Saint Peter ad Catacumbas by the via Appia until moved to what is now the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls in Rome (now in the process of being excavated). Bede, in his Ecclesiastical History, writes that Pope Vitalian in 665 gave Paul's relics (including a cross made from his prison chains) from the crypts of Lucina to King Oswy of Northumbria, northern Britain. However, Bede's use of the word "relic" was not limited to corporal remains.

In the year 656 A.D., Pope Vitalian decided the Catholic Church was not interested in the remains of the apostles Peter and Paul. The Pope, therefore, ordered them sent to Oswy, King of Britain as this part of the Pope's letter to the British King reveals: 'However, we have ordered the blessed gifts of the holy Martyrs, that is, the relics of the blessed apostles, Peter and Paul, and of the holy martyrs Laurentius, John, and Paul, and Gregory, and Pancratius, to be delivered to the bearers of these our letters, to be by them delivered to you: (Bedes 'Ecclesiastical History,' bk. III, ch. 29).

The term 'relics' in the Popes letter are the bones of these men who are now buried in England where, by the way, King David's Throne is today and the 'Coronation' Stone of Destiny placed under the seat of that chair, was just given back to Scotland. As Peter, at a minimum, preached here and was commanded to preach only to the 'lost tribes of Israel,' it can be gleaned then that the peoples in Britain at the time were partly of 'a tribe of Israel,' at a minimum. Reading in Genesis of Jacob's dying blessings upon his sons and especially Joseph's two sons, it would seem that Ephraim, the younger of Joseph's sons, who became a 'company of nations' is this tribe with his brother Manasseh, eventually splitting from them and establishing a single 'great nation' the USA. Food for thought!!!

We do not know when or where Paul died, so we do not know where he was buried. A popular Christian tradition, preferred by the Catholic Church and possibly originating with Pope Anicetus, is that he was executed in Rome and was therefore buried in Rome. Clement of Rome, writing around 95 CE (1 Clement),ought to have known if this had been the case but seems to have believed that Paul went to the 'west' (Spain) and lived out his remaining years there. This suggests that Paul was buried somewhere in Spain.

Where is the patron saint of the Abbey of Saint Peter and Saint Paul buried?

This depends as you could be talking about either St. Peter or St. Paul, both of whom are believed to be buried in Rome. St. Peter, by tradition, is buried under the main altar of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, where the Holy Pontiff celebrates Solemn Mass, and St. Paul is said, as of only about a decade ago, to be buried under the main altar of St. Paul Outside the Walls, also in Rome.Sidenote- some may disagree that Rome, which I speak of as including Vatican City, is not actually Vatican City. This is true.
