Where is a 2001 land rover discovery II fuel filter located?

I need to tell you that I DO NOT THINK YOU HAVE A FUEL FILTER. I have a 1999 Land Rover Disco II and searched for a fuel filter for days. I actually was sold one too. I finally called Land Rover and asked them and they confirmed my suspicion. Hope you didn't spend as much time as me in looking. i can tell you on a 96 disco 1. behind the passenger rear wheel. It is a metal cylinder type filter with line and line out. You have to depressurize the system to remove it. What I had to do was take the fuel pump fuel out, run the motor until it stops. If you don't you run the risk of twisting the fuel line. Check on Landroverforums.com for more information if you need it. Roversnorth.com is also a good site, for information and parts. The info is in the tech tips section. gotta love a rover. duboff My own is a Disco 1 and the above is cct., but I am given to understand that the fuel filter on the Series II is in fuel pump well WITH the fuel pump and as such is changed in tandem with work on the pump. You can access the pump well by removing the carpet etc. and hatch in the back compartment. Hope this assists. As a Land Rover Tech I can tell you that it is true that there is no filter on the series2 there is a small screen at the bottom of the pump pickup that acts as a filter,If you feel this is clogged you can remove the pump by pulling up the rear cargo area carpet as recommended above then just use break clean to clean the screen.Make sure you replace the pump gasket as a faulty gasket will cause a check engine light and a little trick I use is to put a small amount of vaseline on the gasket to ease instalation.Also a quick note on series 1 filters is that the lines usually ceaze up causing the connections to break or damage when removing.I highly recommend getting the repair kit available at the dealer or roversnorth before attempting to replace the filter
