the brake light switch is mounted on the brake pedal (above) and partially hidden. It is white plastic the size of a pack of cigaretts. removing it is tough. HOWEVER READ THIS also found out today , after replacing the brake light switch there still were no brake lights. Then I checked UNDFR THE HOOD and found that the fuse box located near the steering column on the drivers fender wall had a 30 amp fuse blown . which when replaced corrected the brake light problem. No gmc dealer even knew or never mentioned the heavy duty fuse box under the hood. go figure.
