House music originated in Chicago in the early 80s. Although several djs and producers contributed to the style's formation, it was the sets of Frankie Knuckles at the Warehouse club that pulled the scene together and gave it the name "House." Knuckles later returned to his home town, New York, and helped get the scene going there. Since then it has spread all over the world, but Chicago and New York are still key scenes (France has also had a huge impact with such artists at Thomas Bangalter (half of Daftpunk), David Guetta, Sebastian Leger and several others).
