In the protists there are food vacuoles in which food is digested so that it can be used by the cell. This is the large vacuole present in plant cells.
Type your answer here... Fungi are their own, separate kingdom. They are distinct from protists. One reason is because of the way in which fungi obtain nutrients. They are heterotrophic absorptive, which means that they secrete enzymes onto their food source and then absorb the digested material. This is akin to you squirting enzymes from your stomach onto your plate of food, waiting then absorbing the digested products through your skin. Wierd enough to put you in your own, separate kingdom. Protists fall into 2 categories, algae, who are photosynthetic autotrophs, and protozoa, who are heterotrophic ingestive.
Most food is digested in the stomach.
The food that isn't digested is called waste.
It is digested the same way your other food are digested.
Food is stored before it is digested in your stomach.
Animal-like protists do not make their own food, they are consumers, which are things that consume (take in) food. Plant-like protists can, because they use photosynthesis:the process in which a plant (including plant-like protists) makes its own food with sunlight.
chloroplasts; mitochondria
They get their food from the surrounding environment, during feeding the process the amoeba produces long extensions of its body known as Pseudo pods around the food until it is completely surrounded. This creates a food is then digested by special molecules called Enzymes that break down the food into much smaller particles that the amoeba can use as energy for movement.
The food that cannot be digested goes to the large intestine.
The food that cannot be digested goes to the large intestine.
Food is broken down or digested in the stomach but the nutrients are not absorbed in the stomach. Nutrients from digested food are primarily absorbed in the small intestine.
