According to the ingame story, the fictional town is located in the USA. There are several different clues throughtout the series, all pointing to different states. In the film, the town is set in West Virginia.
It's never really explained. Sometimes the games suggest that it's in California, other times it sounds like it's in Virginia, and other references make it sound like it's in Maine. It was supposed to seem like a standard American town that could be anywhere, so they never said its exact location on purpose.
Sure, there is a place down in San Antonio Texas. Now if your talking about the real set the movie was shot in i really wouldn't know.
no but is it is based on a real town

Silent Hill is a good game. And its a real place, because once there was a girl named Brooke Smith she was my best friend. Then she moved to West Virgina and told me she was going to silent hill.So she went to silent hill and showed me on video chat there, next thing you know you see a zombie behind her.
I live in the city where Silent Hill the movie was filmed. The building does in fact exist downtown, but no. The movie was fake.
I'm afraid notTechnically no, as far as I'm aware there is no actual 'Silent Hill'. However, There is the town that Silent Hill (the movie) was based upon called Centrailia, PA.But Just like Silent Hill, there is an underground coal fire that's been burning for the last 40 years. You can not actually enter the town due to high levels of toxic gas and sinkholes. You can however visit the outskirts and surrounding towns! I actually live about an hour away and its pretty eerie place!
There is no actual Silent Hill but the film drew a lot of inspiration from Centralia, PA.
#1 Silent Hill #2 Silent Hill 2 #3 Silent Hill 3 #4 Silent Hill 4: The Room (The Silent Hill Collection)* #5 Silent Hill Origins #6 Silent Hill Homecoming #7 Silent Hill Shattered Memories #8 Silent Hill 8 #9 (Silent Hill: Orphan)* #10 (Silent Hill: The Escape)* *You may not count theese as Silent Hill games because One is a collection of #2 #3 and #4 in the series, and Orphan and The Escape were released on mobile phones.
