This is a special program operated by a junk debt buyer (some times they do get
a hold of current debts) called Jefferson Capital.This program is offered by invitation only and if you receive a invitation letter, make sure that the debt the describe is within SOL, if it it outside SOL, you could reset the clock on an old debt.
I'm going through with them since they offered it on two debts within SOL.
Basically once you accept the offer and join the program, you make so many payments on the account, one you make the qualifying payments, they give you a credit on the owed amount and transfer the remaining balance to an Emblem credit card and send you
the card out.
The card has no annual fee, no monthly service charges, and low late/over limit fees.
You simply pay the card on time, and they will increase your available credit.
They do try to offer this program on legally noncollectable debt as well, but if the debt
is current, this is a great program to get a decent credit card and pay off your debt.
Note: Jefferson Capital is a subsidiary of Compucredit.
