Actually is isn't as hard as that at all, this pcv valve can be accessed from the engine compartment.

Standing along side of the front drivers fender and looking down at the rear of the hood you can get a glimpse of the pcv valve just about 2 - 3 inches below the manifold cover (about the center) , It is mounted on a bracket that has some leeway so that you can twist this bracket if necessary.

The PVC valve itself doesn't have mounting screws and only slides off this bracket via a rail.

I recommend spraying it with WD40 or "liquid wrench" as it will slide off much easier, Then just pop of the hoses and connector and replace, It really is a 5 minute job.

This is one of the most simplistic cars to work on, and with care and maintenance will last as long as you like, this 2001 is going on 130,000 and gets 30mpg and it drives like the day I bought it for my daughter.
