The urinary bladder is part of the excretory system. The excretory system is composed of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. It's function is to remove urea and other compounds from the body, and to maintain the balance of salts and pH in the body. The urinary bladder, commonly just called the bladder, is located behind the pelvic bone and may protrude into the abdomen when full. It's function is to store urine (commonly called "pee") until there is an opportunity to empty the bladder via the urethra.

Dat depends upon which type of bladder u r taking about... There are 3 types of bladders, 2 of which are found in humans, namely urine bladder and gall bladder and the third being air bladder, found in aquatic animals.

Urine bladder acts as a temporary storehouse for urine, which is literally collected in it drop by drop for emptying when the bladder nearly becomes full. Gall bladder helps to excrete some toxic substances through faeces by converting them to bile and giving the typical yellow brown colour to the stools.. Air bladder is used by aquatic animals to maintain their depth in water body... They effectively manipulate the amount and concentration of air in the bladder to either move up towards the surface or go deeper towards the floor...

You have more than one bladder in your body. One holds urine until you are ready to urinate. That is found in the pelvis. Another is the bladder that holds bile (made by the liver). When you eat something that is very fatty, the bile helps to break down the fat. The end product ends up in the small intestine. This one is found close to the liver in the abdomen.
