Underneath the dash on the passenger side, you will see a metal plate with a wire clip and 4 wires leading out... (it's shape is sort of a cross between elliptical and diamond) remove the wire clip and you see 4 metal tabs. Remove the 2 bolts and the resistor is attached to the other side of the plate. You must first remove the glove compartment to see the resistor, then

loosen 1 bolt facing rear of glove box and remove 2 vertical bolts in cover

to the left of kick panel where fuse box is located. This will give enough room to reach the resistor if hands aren't too big. When resistor has been removed it may have debris packed around it, which caused it to burn out, if so duct work may have to be cleaned out of leaves or mouse nest.

I have a 98 - its under the dash where the passengers feet go. there's a plate you have to remove to get at it. I doubt much changed from 96 -98. Simple to install too.

I have a 2000 and it's in same spot (basically behind the glove box). Pretty easy to replace. Took me 30 minutes. Part was $40 at auto parts store (was actually cheaper at Jeep dealer >only $35 but they didn't have in stock) ....

the resistor is under the glove box lower panel. There are several wires leading to it with a three or four prong plug on the end. There are two screws holding it into the heater housing. You will also have to remove a small cover that conceals your vacuum control for the air damper. I've posted the details of how to change this resistor (with pictures) at www.timsjeepblog.com.

In my '95 cherokee, the blower motor resistor is under the glove box. I assume it's about the same on a 1990. I posted instructions (with pictures, so at least you'll know what you're looking for) for replacing it on www.timsjeepblog.com.

Why would the AC Blower and fan all quit working at the same time on your 1993 Cherokee Sport you assume that it is Fuse related but do not know which fuses to change?

sounds like a blower motor resistor, mounted under passenger side of the dash on the fresh air intake box. has small hex bolts holding it on. you probably need a new blower motor and the old one with worn bearings is drangging and blowing out the resistor. its very very common. i replaced mine twice when i should have replaced the motor first! they are expensive!

What should I check the heater on my 1992 Pontiac trans sport just stopped working?

Thermostat possibly stuck open or heater control valve broken. Now if you mean the blower motor has stopped working, check the fuse, blower motor itself, or the blower motor resistor pack.

Why is the blower for your 1998 jeep Cherokee sport only turning on on high also with loud squealing?

If your blower is only working on the high setting its most likely the fan blower resistor that needs replacing, which is a cheap fix. I've had to replace the resistor on both my 98 Jeep Sport and my little 94 Mazda MX-3. As for the squealing I think its most likely your belt needs replacing or re-tightening, or it could be a worn bearing on the water pump.
