The belt is held in place by a tensioner. it looks like a flat pulley with nothing attached.it has a nut on top that is used to release the pressure on the belt. It is a good idea to get the tool that is needed to do the job. it can be done with regular mechanic's tool. If there is space to use them. make a drawing of the belt pattern before you do anything. it make it much easier to put back on. i made that mistake. Take what ever tool you are going to use and slowy turn the bolt counter clockwise. you should be able to see the tension on the belt release. Slide the belt off of one of the components, and return the tensioner to it original place. notes. the tool needed is not expensive, and can be found at most parts stores. also replace the belt with one that is the same as the one you removed. some have anywhere from 4-7 grooves. hope it helps. duboff
The belt tensioner is located below the power steeing pump pulley. On a 3.1 and 3.8 rotate the tensioner counter-clockwise to release the tension. On a 3.4 rotate it clockwise to release it.
You will need to loosen the bolts holding the alternator in place than once theyre loose, theres a long screw that pushes the alternator keeping it tight- loosen that screw and the belt should start becoming loose. Loosen that screw until you can take the belt off then you should be able to replace with a new one. Hope that helps.
if a serpentine belt is loose, it needs replacing. there is an automatic tension pulley on all serpentine belts. so just buy a new belt and install
There is no idle pulley on 1995 GC's with 4.0 Inline 6. To replece the serpentine belt; 1) Draw a diagram of the existing routing. 2) Loosen the alternator. 3)Remove old belt and compare to the new belt. 4) Install new belt. 5) Tighten new belt by tightening alternator. on the 5.2 and 5.6 just rotate tension pulley to the right if you are standing in front of Jeep install and release the tension pulley and let it tighten
depends what year it is. i know that the 94 models you just loosens the bolts in back of the power steering pump and the belts should loosen.
There should be a diagram on the underside of the hood.
Loosen the tensioner pulley on your Monte Carlo 3.1 liter engine. Slide the tensioner pulley to the right. The serpentine belt can be removed. Put the new serpentine belt on and slide the tensioner pulley to the left.
serpentine belt.
You can change an idler pulley on a 2001 Monte Carlo by first, removing the negative cable from the battery. Using a socket wrench, loosen the tension adjustment bolt. Slide the serpentine belt away from the pulley. Remove?æthe center bolt, and remove the pulley from the engine. Replace the pulley,?æreturn and tighten the bolts, and replace the serpentine belt.
on the front of the engine and it is run by the serpentine belt.
on the passenger side of the car and it's driven by the serpentine belt.
Look under the hood of the car for the diagram or in your owners manual if you have it.
Look on your timing chain cover there should be a diagram attached.
There should be a square hole on the belt tensioner arm that a 3/8's drive ratchet will fit in, just put a pipe over the ratchet for extra leverage and turn the tensioner in the direction that will release the belt.
there is no way to tighten your belt it has an automatic belt tensioner if it is making noise it may be the tensioner or the belt also check to see if it routed correctly
Near the top of the serpentine belt path is a belt tensioner; it is spring loaded and has a shinney pulley on it. Insert a wrench into this tensioner and pull against it and the tension will be released so you can replace your belt. I am assuming your question is about the serpentine belt.
Away from the serpentine belt
It goes underneath the water pump and around the next pulley.
